Zion Station Festival in Italy is certainly in our top 3 of reggae festivals we attended in the last years. Every year in the first weeks of July, the village of Portomaggiore becomes a little place of heaven. It's small, no big crowds, in the middle of beautiful nature. Swimming in a lake while Jah music plays. The line-up is entirely dedicated to soundsystem, but in the last year, the organisation also invited a lot of live performers to play on the sounds.
Bredda Dan-I has been an Italian pioneer who spread the UK dub inspiration and rasta spirit around since a long time ago. You probably know one of his many releases like "New Name", "Take away the shoes", or his recent collaborations with Rod Taylor and Danny Red. The anthem "Dub Shakedown" was the perfect soundtrack to Zion Station.
His crew, the Imperial Sound Army, takes an important place among those who have supported and contributed to the Zion Station festival since its first little steps. No wonder the last night of these four days under the Italian sun was reserved especially for a special celebration in honor of the 10 years existence of the ISA Soundsystem. All longtime members showed up, featuring on stage, singers like Loobna and Rod Taylor. Sometimes things just come together, and you have a chat with 5 sound minded bredrins at once- man like Dan I, Jonah Dan, Sammy Dreadlocks, Lorenzo and Benjie B. Listen to these brothers in sounds.
